From this week onwards we are going to try a new format of the quiz contest here.

The highlights of this format are as follows:

1. Questions included in the contest would be posed by any member of the Admistrators and Moderators Usergroup (except lakshy, so that he can also compete).
There would be a fair spread of questions related to various subjects, that is, i shall ensure that the distribution of number of questions asked about physics, chemistry, biology etc. is not uneven,

2. The quantum of questions posed in each shot will be much less, most likely only one per day. This will give more opportunity to student members visiting vimarsh sparingly to participate also the time requirement for posting an answer.

3. The first correct answer will earn 3 points for the member posting it, and the first correct answer that is accompanied with a reasonable explanation will earn 5 points.

4. The correctness of the answer and explanation will be decided by the poser of the question.

5. A member who earns more than 25 points would win a book prize. Thus the minimum number of points required to win a prize would be 25.

6. The contestant may be able to choose the book subject to its price and the number of points earned.

7. Members can choose to carry over their earned points, so as to be eligible to get a more expensive book.

Great idea! It might be useful to give the conversion for points into rupees (perhaps with a plus minus 5 per cent), so the contestants may plan accordingly.

I think a Rs 10 for every point earned would be reasonable. With this ratio every correct answer accompanied by a good explanation a member earns Rs.50 (if s/he is the first member to do so)

how many days after posting the answer ,will the result be announced?

About a week, if the person who posted the question feels that someone has posted the correct answer

All those participants who wish to cash their earned points can do so by informing me the name and author of the book they would like to get awarded and its current market price!

Lately we have witnessed a reduced interest of members to participate in this quiz can some of the winner appraise me of the possible reason?

Thus only two members have scored more then 25 points to choose books they like. pratt89 and selftolerant can thus purchase books worth 540 and 520, and submit deposit them at the CSEC office along with the cash memos (with 10% discount mentioned). They will receive these books on the annual CSEC prize distribution function along with the Quest prize winners.

Other participants, who have earned more than 5 points, get a copy of my book W5H of Science (listed prize Rs. 200) as an encouragement gesture from Vimarsh/CSEC.

I dint get anything.what im supposed to do?

You need to choose book/s worth your prize money, buy the from whereever you wish from, submit the book along with its cashmemo (which shows that a discount of at least 10% has been provided), and submit them at the CSEC office. You will be awarded the prize at the function and reimbursed the bill amount a bit later.

Alternatively you may just inform me the book you desire, whose price is in the range, authorizing me to purchase it on your behalf
